Mackinnon Parade Children's Centre
148 Mackinnon Parade, North Adelaide SA 5006
Mackinnon Parade Children's Centre Incorporated (MPCC) is located in North Adelaide with beautiful views of the surrounding parklands. On clear days we can see the Giraffes wandering around the Zoo and we can hear the monkeys and lions talking to one another.
We are a boutique centre operating for 63 children daily from 7am until 6pm Monday to Fridays (excluding public holidays). Here at MPCC we have a firm commitment to the provision of high quality education and care services for children and their families. We pride ourselves on professionalism, ability to scaffold children's learning through play, our strong working knowledge of the Early Years Learning Framework for delivery of high quality relevant programs and our strong relationships with our children and families.
Our learning environment inspires children's curiosity and encourages their natural desire to discover and learn. Apart from the children themselves our Educators guide the emergent curriculum. Our Team at MPCC consists of experienced and knowledgeable Educators who implement a range of teaching strategies and theoretical practices, implementing intentional teachings and underpinning our philosophy.
MPCC provides 5 warm and friendly educational groups:
- Crawling Caterpillars - babies
- Bouncing Bunnies - toddlers
- Groovy Giraffes - 2-3 year old children
- Cheeky Monkeys - 3-4 year old children
- Happy Hippos - Pre-schoolers
Mackinnon Parade Children's Centre Inc. has a long history of community involvement. Initially, it was established in the early 1970's by the University of Adelaide as a facility used by staff and students of the university and then extending to staff of the Women's and Children's Hospital. In 1986, the focus changed from one of priority to the University to one of equal opportunity throughout the community for access to the centre. In 1986, the building was purchased by the Organisation with funds provided by the Department for Community Services and Health and the Health Commission.
To this day, Mackinnon Parade Children's Centre functions as a non for profit community children's centre under the Associations Incorporations Act and Educational and Care Services Nationality Quality Framework.
We are managed by a highly professional Board, which integrates parents of the children that attend our service with our Centre's Director and Educators. They bring together their knowledge and skills to ensure that our Centre runs smoothly as well as constantly achieving the best outcomes for our community, our families and children.
